Mobile Crisis Response

We can help 24hrs a day 365 days a year

Like any other health emergency, it’s important to address a mental health crisis quickly and effectively. Often the most difficult step is the first one, who to call for help. At LSRC, our professionally trained crisis staff will provide punctual, high-quality care with empathy and compassion to both adults and youth to de-escalate the crisis and provide support services thereafter. If you’re feeling heightened emotional distress, or having thoughts of hurting yourself or others, or both, these are common symptoms of a mental health crisis. If you, a family member, or friend need crisis services contact our crisis team.

Our agency’s Mobile Crisis Response Team consists of two members: a Crisis Screener, and an Engagement Specialist. The screener will first speak with the person in crisis to ensure their safety and will utilize a standardized crisis assessment tool (IM-CAT) to gather relevant information for treatment. While this is happening, the Engagement Specialist will guide the person in crisis through the stressful situation, often using their own lived experience to ensure an empathetic and smooth de-escalation. Once the crisis is over, follow up support services will ensure linkage to a positive post crisis response.

Please call 217-854-3166 during office hours. After hours services are available at 217-854-3160. This number connects you directly to a member of our crisis team. Once the call is received and evaluated, our team will arrive at the crisis location within 90 minutes.

If the person in crisis is under 21 years of age they may be eligible for additional youth services. Please call the CARES hotline at 1-800-345-9049 (TTY – Toll Free 1-866-794-0374) CARES staff will dispatch the appropriate Mobile Crisis Response Team nearest to the crisis location within 90 minutes of receiving the referral.

If you feel like crisis services wouldn’t be a good fit for you or a loved one but still would like someone to talk to, please consider looking into our outpatient therapy, where you can schedule an appointment with one of our skilled outpatient therapists.
